Saskatchewan Branch
The Saskatchewan Branch has been a dynamic contributor to the CWRA from its inception
in 1947. The mission of CWRA, “promoting effective water management” is particularly
relevant in Saskatchewan, where moisture deficits are common and much of the province’s
water is shared with other jurisidictions.
The strength of the Saskatchewan Branch lies in the diversity of its members and
the agencies and organizations they represent. While some members have been associated
with CWRA for many years, the Branch warmly welcomes new members and student members.
To honour the late Professor Bill Stolte, University of Saskatchewan, a long term
Branch Director, the Saskatchewan Branch established the “Bill Stolte Best Student
Paper Award", which is presented at the CWRA Annual National Conference. The Saskatchewan
Branch also is responsible for awarding the Wolbeer Award to persons who have made
a significant contribution to water resources in Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan Branch members have played a strong leadership role at the national level,
serving on both the National Executive and Board of Directors, and on national committees
and working groups. Saskatchewan members also contribute significantly to
CANCID,
Project WET, and CSHS.
The Saskatchewan Branch regularly organizes workshops, seminars, and conferences.
Please refer to the list of events for updated information.
All Saskatchewan Branch members are invited to the Branch’s Annual General Meeting
held during the first quarter of each year. Members are also eligible to sit on
the Board of Directors which meets bi-monthly, usually in Saskatoon or Regina.
