SYP Social and Professional Mixer
Event Date: March 29, 2007
Description:The purpose of the event, which was held in the Landscape Architecture Building of the University of Guelph, was to bring together students and water resources professionals for an informal evening of social interaction. Approximately 30 people attended the event, with a good cross-section of students, young professionals and professionals from academia, government, industry and NGOs. These included the Universities of Guelph, Waterloo, and Western Ontario, Conservation Ontario, GRCA, Canadian Water Network, Trout Unlimited Canada, CF Crozier & Associates, Conestoga-Rovers & Associates, and OMAFRA.

Description:A special discussion seminar by Margaret Catley-Carlson on The New World of Water was organized. Margaret is Chair of The Global Water Partnership and a Member of the UN Secretary General Advisory Board on Water.

Description: Dr. Rob de Lo, Professor, Department of Geography (University of Guelph) and Canada Research Chair in Water Management made a presentation about the CWRA, and about the evolution and current state of water policy in Canada.

CWRA-SYP Saskatoon Movie Night: Global Water Resources

Description: The CWRA-SYP Chapter hosted a FREE Movie Night at the Neatby-Timlin Theater on the University of Saskatchewan Campus. The general theme of the event was 'Global Water Resources' with two films addressing this topic: The Vanishing Ice and Thirst. The event was open to anyone interested in attending.

SYP at CWRA National Conference 2006

Description:This year's CWRA annual conference was hosted in Toronto in June. Many SYPers were present. We had a booth set-up and many of us presented over the course of the conference. It was a great opportunity to meet lots of people with similar interests.

Calgary Students and Young Professionals Official Launch

Ripple Effects Networking Event

Event Location: Vancouver BC
Description: The aim of this event was to educate students and young professionals about the CWRA and encourage them to join the Vancouver student chapter. Presentations were given by the BC Branch President, BC Branch Past President and members of the SYP chapter. Afterwards, there was an opportunity to network and learn more, with pizza and beer and wine served.
